Description

Leading edge conservation practices that will positively impact water quality without negatively affecting the farmer's economic bottom line
was the featured topic at the Northwest Ohio Ag-Business Breakfast Forum. The event was hosted by the Center for Innovative Food Technology (CIFT) at the Agricultural Incubator Foundation (AIF).

Aaron Heilers, project manager, Blanchard River Watershed Demonstration Farms Network, spoke about how water quality, especially in the western Lake Erie basin, has become a very controversial topic in recent years. There have been new laws and regulations put in place to try to combat algal blooms in bodies of water around Ohio, and the threat of more government involvement is looming.
