Rubin Patterson is a professor and Chair of Sociology and Anthropology as well as the Director of Environmental Studies at Howard University. Dr. Patterson was formerly the Chair of Sociology and Anthropology and Director of Africana Studies at the University of Toledo.
He has published essays on transnationalism and environmental issues in various journals including Social Forces, Globalization, Journal of Black Studies and the Journal of Industrial Ecology.
His passion for all things environmental and the subsequent African American experience led to the publication of his recent book, Greening Africana Studies: Linking Environmental Studies with Transforming Black Experience as a way of lending his voice towards a more inclusive Black and Latino involvement in environmental leadership positions.
