The University of Toledo’s Department of Communication and The University of Toledo’s Libraries presented a series of speakers addressing the impact of banning books and censorship.

The American Library Association (ALA) promotes the freedom to choose or the freedom to express one's opinions even if that opinion might be considered unorthodox or unpopular and stresses the importance of ensuring the availability of those viewpoints to all who wish to read them.

Dr. Renee Heberle, Political Science, spoke on "Do Criminals have First Amendment Rights? Civic Death and the U.S. Constitution.”
