Policy Strategies to Address the Grocery Gap
Description
Run Time: 23:35
Sarah Treuhaft, PolicyLink, spoke on "Policy Strategies to Address the Grocery Gap."
For decades, low income communities and communities of color suffered as grocery stores and fresh, affordable food disappeared from their neighborhoods. While advocates and residents have long fought to address this grocery gap, the lack of nearby access to fresh produce and other healthy food has only recently emerged as a policy issue at the state and national levels.
The presentation was part of the Local Food Systems Conference held at the Toledo Hilton. The conference aimed to bring together both academics and practitioners to share their knowledge, experience, and expertise with regard to developing and maintaining local food systems in old industrial regions.
