Dr. Powel Kazanjian, Professor and Chief, Division of Infectious Diseases, spoke on, “The Origins of Bacteriology in America: Life and Works of Frederick Novy.”

The lecture was part of the, S. Amjad Hussain, MD Visiting Lecture in the History of Medicine and Surgery. The University of Toledo has created this annual lectureship in the history of medicine and surgery to honor Dr. S. Amjad Hussain’s deep interest in many diverse fields, including the history of medicine. Dr. Hussain is an emeritus professor of thoracic and cardiovascular surgery and professor emeritus of humanities at The University of Toledo.
