Ohio Board of Regents Chancellor John Carey discussed K-12 and higher education items within the Midbiennial Budget Review and how the two state agencies are collaborating to enhance secondary and post-secondary education for Ohio’s students.
An experienced lawmaker, John Carey served nine years in the Ohio House of Representatives and eight years in the Ohio Senate. He is one of the few legislators in history to serve as chairman of both the House Finance and Appropriations Committee and the Senate Finance and Financial Institutions Committee. Prior to his work as a legislator, Carey was mayor of the City of Wellston and was an aide to former Congressman Clarence Miller of Lancaster. Most recently, Carey served as Assistant to the President for Government Relations and Strategic Initiatives for Shawnee State University in Portsmouth. He was appointed Chancellor by Governor Kasich in April 2013.
