International Day of the Girl-Walaa Kanan

October 11 marked the International Day of the Girl by the United Nations. The day aims to highlight and address the needs and challenges girls face while promoting girls' empowerment and the fulfillment of their human rights.

This year Young Women of Toledo partnered with Toledo American Association of University Women (AAUW) to celebrate International Day of The Girls.

Walaa Kanan spoke at the event. She was the 2016 Youth Jefferson Award recipient from Toledo Early College.

The event was held at The University of Toledo.
