Nathaniel Betz , Center for Farmland Policy Innovation, The Ohio State University spoke on "A Metropolitan Agricultural Supplement for U.S. Food Systems."
An evolving socio-economic landscape in the United States necessitates a Metropolitan Agricultural Supplement. That is, an economic complement operating within the conventional agricultural market and at a new scale of efficiency, utilizing previously unavailable relationships unveiled by the emergence of the metropolitan region as a dominant global actor.
The presentation was part of the Local Food Systems Conference held at the Toledo Hilton. The conference aimed to bring together both academics and practitioners to share their knowledge, experience, and expertise with regard to developing and maintaining local food systems in old industrial regions.
