Karen Davis, nationally recognized economist and one of Modern Healthcare’s “Top 25 Women in Healthcare, 2009”, spoke at about Health Systems. She is a nationally recognized economist and President of The Commonwealth Fund. Karen Davis has been named to Modern Healthcare’s “Top 25 Women in Healthcare, 2009” and has had a very distinguished career in public policy and research. The title of her talk was “A High Performing Health System: Lessons from Abroad.” Dr. Davis has a Ph.D. in Economics from Rice University and has taught at Rice, Harvard University, and The Johns Hopkins University, where she was Chairman of the Department of Health Policy and Management. She has also served at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and was a Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution. Her current organization, The Commonwealth Fund, promotes high-performing health care solutions by sponsoring independent research and supporting innovative programs to improve health care in the United States and abroad.
